June walked down the street her messenger bag strung over one shoulder and a the latest Book in the Filch series in her other hand. She checked her watched and picked up the pace. She had to meet Tobias in fifteen minuets and she was still thirty minuets or so from the cafe where they’ed agreed to meet. She looked down again and in doing so she crashed into someone in front of her.
“Oh my gosh I’m so sorry.” she apologized looking up. The person was an elder gentleman she’d crashed into and he was staring at her, she also noticed that he had that faint odor about him that said he hadn’t bathed for a few day’s. He just kept staring at her. “Sir?” She asked slightly worried there was something wrong with him.
“Will you go out with me?”
“Will you go out with me?” he repeated the question and June was embarrassed to say she’d frozen on the spot. She tried to make her mouth work or something, but it was like her vocal cords had been seized by an unknown force.
“There you are.”
The voice came from behind her and tuning June found herself face to chest with Tobias. Tobias stepped up beside her and looked at the man. “Is there a problem her sir?” he inquired polity. The gentlemen seemed to shake himself out of a stupor because he gifted Tobias with a smile that in June’s opinion was a little creepy.
“No problem, Sir I was just asking the little lady if she would gift this poor old man with a night of her company.”
Tobias looked at June for confirmation and after her nod he looked the man in the eye and said “As her boyfriend I’m afraid we’ll have to decline your generous offer. Have a safe day Sir.”
That being said Tobias pulled her into the people traffic and when they were several blocks away he took her hand and held it gently between his own.
“You alright June Bug?”
The question and the gesture had her smiling. Nodding she looked Tobias in the eye and spoke. “Sorry for freezing up like that”
“Don’t be if I had someone who looked and smelled like that asking me out I’d freeze up too.”
June smacked his shoulder but laughed anyway. Tobias laughed and took her hand once more leading her in the direction of the cafe.
